The DAM Way
A Simple Technique To Make Money Online on YOUR Time
courtesy of: PotPieGirl.com
...for those with a strong will and an unbreakable spirit...
Just as the beaver collects sticks, branches, and trees to build his dam and harness his food.... you are going to put articles out on the internet (your sticks) to harness the targeted traffic and readers you want to direct to the product you are promoting.
Consider that targeted traffic as YOUR "food".
If you think of a creek stream as a flow of people who are looking for information on your topic on the internet, your articles will each be one part of your dam that stops them so you can show them your product.
Every article you write makes your dam bigger and stronger....and makes it all work better for you.
The less articles (sticks) you have, the more "fish" flow thru and miss your offer.
Can you visualize that?
ONE article - or ONE stick - sure won't make a very good dam, now would it?
But lots of sticks can make a good dam....and every stick (article) you add to it makes it even better.
That is our objective here - to put our articles in the way of the traffic that is looking for the information we have.
Every article gives you more of a chance to get more visitors and clicks on your affiliate link .... which should mean more sales.
Sales... Yup, Now we're talkin'!
Let's get to making some money, honey!
When people go to Google (and about 80% of the world's internet users do), they type words in Google's search bar to find information that will help them.
Isn't that how YOU do it?
You type in phrases that will help you answer a question you have, or find reviews of a product, or help you stop something that is hurting you. When people type things like that, they want help....they want solutions.
The bigger the "problem", the more likely they are to buy a good solution.
People give away how close they are to buying by what they type into Google.
An example I hear quite often is this -
If someone types dog training tips in Google's search, they may very well be simply searching for some free tips about training their dog. No real "problem" for them - just basic info searching.

However, if someone types how to stop dog from peeing on the carpet , well, they have a serious issue going on that they want a solution to NOW.
You also might notice that the more "pressing" the issue, the more words their Google search contains. While dog training tips is a keyword, how to stop dog from peeing on the carpet is what we in the industry call a "long-tail keyword".
Long-tail keywords are more specific and usually indicate that the searcher is closer to finding and buying a solution.
While long-tail keywords don't have the same higher search volume as basic keywords, they do tend to convert to sales much better because the reader knows what/he she wants - or the need for a solution is more pressing.
Here's How Your Articles Fit Into All This
YOU are now the match-maker. You are writing articles that attract those that have questions or want info on your topic, and you are matching them up with a product that can help them.
You aren't SELLING, so don't think for a moment that you are or will be.
It is the product owner's job to SELL - that's the job of the sales page.
You are simply finding people who have a problem and matching them with the solution.
Affiliate marketing is not about SELLING, it's about being a matchmaker.
The articles you write will be about things - specific things - people in your market might want to know. Your article could answer a question, give them a simple "how to", or anything like that.
Your articles are NOT promotional...and they are NOT about the product your are linking to.
Your article is NOT a sales-pitch - got me?
What we want is for your article to help someone with one small part of the big topic, interest them and help them enough that when they get to the end of your short article, they want to click the links you have at the end (this area is called your author bio box or author resource area or resource box).
On many article directories, the author resource box is the ONLY place you can have links.
The main article directory of choice for most marketers is EzineArticles.com. (Go ahead, click it and look around, it will open in a new window for you.)
Take a look through some of the articles there. See how many have interesting titles, short and informative articles, and then a resource box area at the end where the author has typed something and added their link?
That's what you will be doing.
Now don't get all choked up thinking, "ACK! I can't write!"
Sure you can! Can you write an email? Then you can write articles.
So, let's go ahead and get you signed up for an EzineArticles.com account - it's free. Just click "submit articles" at the very top left-hand side - fill in the blanks and then click "create my account" and follow the instructions from there.
Once your account is created, you can log in.
I'll give you a video that walks you through how to submit articles to EzineArticles.com in just a minute, but first we need to write some articles.
So that leads me to the most popular question....
"What do I write my articles about?"
We'll talk about that next.
Before we move on, I'd like to add this -
If the concept of writing articles intimidates you, or makes you NOT want to try The DAM Way, please read this guest post I did on the Wealthy Affiliate blog.
In that article, I have a great tip that really helped ME get past my feeling of "I can't write good enough articles".
Also, in the comments section, many, many other marketers have shared their own tips for getting past this block.
Click here to read that article. It will also open in a new window so go ahead and read it and come right back. It is very important to me that YOU know that yes, you CAN write perfectly well enough to make The DAM Way work for you.
